ABOUT THE SEMINAR - NWS 2002

Welding in its present form and level is a multi-disciplined most widely used process in Power, Steel, Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, Construction, Road, Seal & Rail Transportation, Aerospace, Communication industries. The rapid stride it is making now, matches the very fast globalisation of trade and economy and must be used as an essential instrument in its progressive advanced forms. Welding Design, Research and Development, Process & Methods, Equipment and Consumables, Quality & Productivity, Manpower Training and Development Safety, Health & Environmental considerations provide the cutting edge in the global competitive trade. Application of Information Technology and above all an Integrated Welding Management System to International Standards is the need today.

National Welding Seminar, NWS-2002, is being organised to provide a platform to the Research Fellows, Academicians, Industry Practitioners, Welding Engineers, Equipment & Consumable Manufacturers to discuss, exchange views and solving problems in work situations with updated technology applications. Experts from Universities, Manufacturers and Industries in Welding and Allied Subjects will present papers in the Seminar.

The National Welding Seminar (NWS-2002) will be held in December 19 - 21, 2002 (Thursday, Friday, & Saturday) during which the following topics will be deliberated upon:

  • Arc Welding & Cutting Processes

  • Advancements in Welding & Cutting Processes

  • Welding Processes, Systems, Equipment & Advancement.

  • Welding Consumables - applications, development

  • Welding Metallurgy & Weldability analysis of Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Metals.

  • Mathematical Modelling Simulation and Artificial Intelligence related to Welding.

  • Hard Facing, Repair, and Maintenance Welding.

  • Total Quality Management in Fabrication.

  • Cost, Economics, and Productivity in Welding.

  • Human Resource Development.

  • Destructive, Non-Destructive Testing, Evaluation and Failure Analysis.

  • Residual Stress, Distortion and Residual Life Estimation.

  • Safety- Health & Environmental impacts.

An Exhibition will be held alongside by Manufacturers of Equipment and Consumables and Industries engaged in Fabrication depicting updated technology and applications.

An All India Welding Quiz Competition, Best Welding Engineer and Best Welder Competition will also be held during the Seminar.
