Organisation

 

The Memorandum and Articles of Association of The Indian Institute of Welding specify in detail the Organisation and functioning of the Institute.

The Institute is governed by a Council that is elected annually in the general body meeting of all members. The council is representative of all branches, all classes of members including Industrial corporate members. The council is headed by a President and is assisted by three Vice Presidents, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and Chairperson Specialised Committees & Subcommittees.

International Committee - To advise & act for the council and responsible for liaison with similar Institute outside India and to encourage exchange of Information and increase Interaction. Indian institute of Welding is having reciprocal arrangement under with AWS - USA, TWI-UK, SWS-Singapore, Romania, etc. These bilateral relations are on the increase. Close contact is also maintained with the International Institute of Welding.

Technical Committee - To advise and to act for the Council in matters directly or indirectly relating to welding science and technology and other allied matters. It would also be responsible for formation & monitoring activities of various Technical Commissions, assist GP committee in Publication of technical articles and advise the council in evaluating and nomination of IIW award winners.

General Purpose Committee – To advise & act for the Council in matters relating to the Membership, Meetings, Library Information Service, Publication, Branches and other activities of the Institute, and to promote Education as effecting Welding, appointing Membership, Meetings & Publication, Welding Education subcommittees as may be required. The committee is also fully responsible to administer the AM-IIW examination & in fixing the curriculum in line with the Industry, Indian & International Standard, conduct examination with full independence and finally give its recommendation to the council on the basis of its evaluation.

Finance Committee – To advise & act for the Council and is responsible for supervising financial matters including Budgeting, Collection, Expense monitoring as per IIW rules, ensuring proper Book Keeping and meeting Audit Requirement.
