REFRESHER COURSE ON WELDING CODES AND SPECIFICATIONS ON SATURDAY, 3 rd AUGUST 2002   AT CONFERENCE HALL HOTEL PANCHARATHNA PIMPRI CHINCHWAD POONA ORGANISED BY THE INDIAN INSTITUTE OF WELDING MUMBAI BRANCH     ABOUT MUMBAI BRANCH The Indian Institute of Welding, Mumbai Branch was formally inaugurated on 2nd.February, 1973 by Mr.W.Burt and since then has been promoting the interests of professionals and industries associated with welding in the western region of the country. It is one of the most active among all the branches and has a membership of more than 600. It has its’ own office with an air conditioned lecture hall. The branch regularly conducts technical lectures, refresher courses, workshops, industrial visits and seminars. THEME & OBJECTIVE Welding Technology has made rapid progress in the last century and it is very much essential to keep us in touch and update on this very important process of manufacturing. Welding and joining of engineering materials is fundamental to successful manufacturing and fabricating industries. The welding codes and its specifications provide the rules of safety governing the design, fabrication and inspection during the construction process. The codes contain mandatory requirements specific prohibitions and non-mandatory guidance for construction activities. The specifications cover the quality of the base materials and the consumables required for the fabrication industry to carry out the welding processes. This course is aimed to highlight the need to upgrade the knowledge in the field of codes and specifications of the personnel involved in fabrication industry, their future and involvement of the Indian Welding Industry. Also it is aimed to enhance the participant’s knowledge on Welding Technology and to update the developments in this field. This refresher course will bring together the Welding Professionals and technocrats to discuss the recent developments and requirements in the field of welding and also share rich experience, knowledge and vision for the future. Considering all the above aspects it has been decided to conduct a full day refresher course in the topic along with a panel discussion on WELDING CODES AND SPECIFICATIONS. All the participants will be issued a certificate of participation. Considering the present financial situation, our managing committee has decided to reduce the participation fee as much as possible, and we have tried to make it the most affordable to all. Topics to be covered in the Refresher course Introduction to different codes Specifications and its importance Materials for construction and welding Rules for construction Quality and inspection Destructive as well as non-Destructive testing.             WHO SHOULD ATTEND This refresher course will be useful for all the persons related and involved in the welding field in general and Supervisors, Engineers, Welding inspectors, Managers in particular engaged in: Design, fabrication, inspection of welded equipment and structures. Personnel from the Quality control and Quality Assurance. Students from the colleges who study welding as their subject.
